These paintings are made on stretched silk using an ancient Indian technique called “resist” where you draw with a substance  – gouda – that becomes a white outline that separates the vibrant colors absorbed by the silk. You can see stills and a video that show how this works on the process section. 
 
I have to speak here about the erotic imagery in this first set of paintings and drawings. These depictions are my personal visualizations from the words and commentary, and all were motivated by what I read. And there is indeed much reference to the sexual throughout these Jewish writings. Friends have called this the “dickular” version of the bible, and they do reflect a period of my life.
