Yitro Haftorah – Isaiah 6:1-7:6 & 9:5-6

Isaiah’s haftorah vision is of Hashem high on a thrown surrounded by seraphim whose four wings cover their faces and feet while two more are for flight.  A smoke seeps down through the temple and Isaiah, feelings worthless, is approached by one of the seraphim with a flaming coal in tongs that will be placed on his lips to clear him of his iniquities and doubt, so that he can remind us to see and hear what is truth, even as our cities decay and what seem left of us is merely the severed trunk.  But know we are to grow again from this cut down tree.  Let us use our vision and hearing to appreciate the wonder of being and be of service to others with kindness and understanding.
