Tsav Haftorah – Jeremiah 7:21–8:3; 9:22–23

In this haftorah, Jeremiah points out, as others prophets have, that we have closed our ears to the truth, and we have rejected Hashem’s guidance.  He also reminds us to not to gloat over our capacities, whether we call ourselves wise (reflected in the image of the brilliant Japanese author Shikibu), or whether you are strong, or whether you are ridiculously rich.  Let us boast that we have the wisdom to know that Hashem is the source of all, bestowing out potentials for kindness, justice, and righteousness.
