How will liars be punished? Who will bring forgiveness to us? These are themes of this week’s reading. The spies sent to check out the land, came back with false reports of dangerous giants and plagues to frighten the Hebrews which happened, except to the women who listened to Joshua and Caleb who told the truth. The punishment for the spies was their lying tongues extended out to their navels and worms climbed up and into their mouths and they perished. Wonder if this could happen to the outstanding liars of our time! And as to forgiveness, here is Moses asking Hashem to forgive us who have abandoned the truth and grace of our Creator. Would he too be here to help us. Maybe his spirit is doing that now.
