Here are laws of purification where one submerges oneself in the flowing waters of a “mikva.” Included in the list of things that make one impure is nocturnal emissions.
The blood markings were symbolic – in the ear for listening to God, on the hands to actively carry out the will of Hashem, and the foot to move swiftly to serve Hashem.
