KEDOSHIM

A major theme of this parsha is conduct and ethics reflecting the idea that we should be holy as Hashem is holy and we have been given the gift of creativity which is what Hashem does. Create. There are instructions about the growth and productivity and care of trees, and the story is told of the Conqueror Emperor Hadrian passing through Israel to start at war when he encountered an old man planting a fig tree.  The ruler challenged him saying, “why do what you are doing for you will surely die before this tree ever produces.” The man replied, “If I am not here to tastes from this sapling, my children will.”  What we do today affects the future.  Consider this in how we presently are treating the planet.
