Eikev Haftorah Isaiah 49:14–51:3

Eikev Haftorah Isaiah 49:14–51:3

Here the prophet speaks that a woman may forget her suckling child, but Hashem will not forget us, Hashem’s hand holds us and our walls, our places where we live, are before Hashem.  We are told to lift up our eyes.  Those who have mocked us and imprisoned and distracted our children will return those children back to us. The false kings and queens shall prostrate themselves and lick the dust off our feet and learn that Hashem is the Lord over all. Our enemies will become drunk and eat their own flesh.  Yes, Hashem seemed to abandon us with a bill of divorce, and Hashem’s rebuke has made the rivers dry up and fish become foul because there is no water, because we have abandoned truth. Think of today’s global warming. The heavens have become dark.  Yes, we have had attackers, here in the upper right of the drawing the prophet is beaten by the Romans and the Nazis cut his beard, but they all will be consumed by Hashem’s nature referred to in the writings as a moth. We may kindle a fire forgetting Hashem, but still all of our peoples will return like a restored necklace (here the borders of this drawing have our people from the past to the present).  Know Abraham has been our rock and Sarah our deep pit of wisdom, and in gratitude we shall enter a paradise symbolized here by the four worlds of the four sephirot spoken of in Kabbalah. Hashem has not forgotten us.  We shall find joy and happiness.
