Who will protect us? What will protect us? The Zohar addresses this in commentary on the six words of the Shema prayer and its subsequent paragraphs that are in this parsha. These words are placed in mezuzahs attached to our doors and while we are in bed – maybe studying the wisdom of our ancestors which is recommended to be done even late at night – the protective hand of Hashem covers us and the power of the prayer inside the mezuzah distracts evil forces and in fear they flee. May we find such help beyond the mystical hope, knowing that we truly are in the hand of God; and may we be blessed, as we bless the Creator for giving us life.
