How do we confront fear? Here the Hebrews finally leaving 210 years of slavery have arrived at the churning Yam Suf – Red Sea – and now what? In the desert here comes the infuriated Pharaoh with his chariots bound to recapture the Hebrews. Moses prays to Hashem for guidance and one of the protective clouds following the Hebrews is blocking the Egyptian charge in darkness, but will that stop them? Then Nachshon, one of the leaders of the tribe of Judah, decides to leap into the waters heading forward up to his neck, willing to risk everything for freedom. What follows is the parting of this sea and the escape of the Hebrews. May we too have the courage to step forward.
