Haftorah second day Pesach — Kings 2 23:1-9, 21-25

Haftorah second day Pesach --- Kings 2 23:1-9, 21-25

In this haftorah from II Kings, there have been a series of generations of corrupt kings who have thrown aside the ethics and beliefs of the Torah.  But this new king returns to Torah and when he opens it beside what is called a pillar which may be one of those before the Temple, instead of the beginning it is the section from Ki Tavo with the curses, which he reads to the failing priests as he also demands the removal and destruction of the idols with the burning of Ashera in a brook and the destruction of idols of Baal and the destruction of the houses of male prostitution.  And the last words of this haftorah are reminding us to celebrate Pesach.
