Tazria (“When a woman conceives and gives birth”)

Leviticus 12:1  – 13:58

The procedure of “brit mila” – the circumcision – which occurs 8 days after birth to ensure that the child has experience at least one Shabbos – the spiritual day of the week that is as important a holy day as any other in the religion.  A drop of wine would be put on the lips of the child to make this a little easier.  The four colors here in the tent represent the four worlds Kabbalah speaks of that we exist in simultaneously – red – the physical world of making – Asiyah; purple – Yerzirah -the world of formation, the angelic, dream world; blue – the world of creation, a more atomistic space of Briyah; and the yellow – Azilut – nearness – an indescribable area that is closer to Hashem.
